International mother language day
International Mother Language Day was proclaimed by UNESCO's General Conference in November 1999. The International Day has been observed every year since February 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
International mother language day is on 21st February. Each year, Purbachal – Eastern Sky organises a series of cultural performances that celebrate the cultural diversity in Luton. In 2008, Luton Voices took part by sharing the experiences that people had in moving to England and learning English.
Shown here are some of the excerpts taken from oral history interviews. These designs have been illustrated by Meng Wang, Zhang Ge and Yu Meng Wang.
